‘Ali Roshan’ sentenced to 15 years RI
Samarappulige Niraj Roshan, also known as ‘Ali Roshan,’ has been sentenced to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment for illegally possessing an elephant without a valid permit.
A three-judge bench of the Colombo High Court comprising Justices Manjula Thilakaratne, R.S.S. Sapuvida, and Lanka Jayaratne imposed a fine of Rs. 20.6 million. The elephant has been ordered to be confiscated.
Three other defendants charged in the case were acquitted and released. (Newswire)
