Municipal Councillor Harshani Sandaruwani of the Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte Municipal Council, who was recently arrested, was granted bail after being presented before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court yesterday (17).

She was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in connection with contemptuous remarks made against the judiciary and its rulings during the court proceedings on August 22, when former President Ranil Wickremesinghe was presented before the court.

Investigations conducted by the CID’s Special Investigation Unit led to the arrest of 46-year-old Councillor Harshani Sandaruwani. (Newswire)
