The Constitutional Council has approved President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s nomination of Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasooriya as the 37th Inspector General of Police of Sri Lanka.

Weerasooriya, who has been serving as Acting IGP since November 2023, will officially assume the post following the Council’s endorsement.
