Sri Lanka Cricket Transformation Committee Chairman Eran Wickramaratne has said changes are expected in the organisation’s senior management, with staff to be assessed under stricter performance targets as part of a proposed governance overhaul.

Speaking at a media briefing, Wickramaratne said the new structure would introduce clearer accountability and key performance indicators (KPIs) for employees and senior management.

“Changes will happen because you need the changes,” he said, adding that the transition would be challenging as staff would face closer evaluation of their performance.

Committee member Dinal Phillips said SLC would conduct interviews to select the most suitable candidates for positions. He said some appointments could be on a contract basis, depending on performance, and that employees would be subject to a strict evaluation process.

The proposed structure is intended to give the chief executive officer responsibility for running the organisation, while the board focuses on policy and oversight, Phillips said.

Wickramaratne said the committee was working to improve public trust, financial accountability and professional administration at SLC. He described the organisation as a Rs. 16 billion entity and said it needed stronger checks and balances.

The draft Sri Lanka Cricket Bill has been gazetted and is open for public scrutiny. Committee members said elections under the new structure could be held after regulations and rules are prepared once it’s approved in Parliament, a process they indicated could take several months. (Newswire)
