Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga is set to return home from the ongoing England series after experiencing stiffness and spasms in his back and neck.

Hasaranga missed the first ODI against England due to the issue, with Sachindu Colombage replacing him in the playing XI and making an impressive ODI debut.

The extent of Hasaranga’s condition is not immediately clear, but it is understood that the team management and selectors have decided against risking him for the remainder of the England series.

With Colombage performing well in the first ODI, Hasaranga is expected to return to Sri Lanka to have his back attended to, rest and prepare for the upcoming series against Pakistan in October. (Newswire)
