Sri Lanka Customs seizes drugs worth Rs. 4.5 billion in nine months

Sri Lanka Customs has seized more than 396 kilograms of narcotics with an estimated street value of Rs. 4.5 billion in 55 raids conducted since October 2025.
Customs Spokesman Chandana Punchihewa said the seizures were made between 30 October 2025 and July 2026, targeting various types of illicit drugs.
Speaking on Wednesday (30), he said the confiscated narcotics included Kush, cannabis, cocaine and methamphetamine, commonly known as Ice.
Punchihewa further revealed that during July 2026 alone, Customs carried out five drug busts, seizing 25.4 kilograms of narcotics.
“During July 2026, we seized 25.4 kilograms of various narcotics through five detections. The drugs included Kush, cannabis, cocaine and methamphetamine,” he said. (Newswire)
