The Representative of Sri Lanka to the State of Palestine, Farook Mohamed Fawzer, paid an official courtesy call on Governor of Nablus Ghassan Daghlas at the Governorate Headquarters, reaffirming bilateral ties with Palestine’s key economic hub.

According to the Representative Office of Sri Lanka in Ramallah, at the outset, Representative Fawzer conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to Governor Daghlas and the people of Nablus on behalf of the Government and people of Sri Lanka.

Recognizing Nablus as Palestine’s historic manufacturing heartland and premier industrial hub, renowned for furniture, stone and marble, food processing, pharmaceuticals, traditional soap making, and vibrant commercial markets, the discussions focused on leveraging Nablus’s industrial strength to enhance direct trade and economic ties with Sri Lanka.

Governor Daghlas welcomed the delegation and provided a detailed briefing on the socio‑economic landscape, outlining challenges such as logistical constraints on trade, movement restrictions, and their impact on business continuity, education, and community well‑being.

In response, Representative Fawzer reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to advancing practical economic diplomacy and fostering bilateral partnerships. He extended a formal invitation to the Nablus business community, through the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to participate in Sri Lanka Expo 2027, scheduled for January 2027.

“Nablus serves as a vibrant economic driver for Palestine,” noted Representative Fawzer. “Through platforms such as Sri Lanka Expo 2027, we aim to build direct B2B bridges, connecting Nablus’s prominent industrialists, traders, and entrepreneurs with Sri Lankan counterparts to foster mutual growth and sustainable economic collaboration.”
