Six new directors appointed to NYSC

Six new members have been appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Youth Services Council (NYSC), the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced on Monday (20).
The newly appointed board members are Dr Anura Dissanayake, Niyas Mohamed Irshad, Vishwanath Edirisinghe, Sanjeewa Gunaratne, H. Herath and Chaminda Prasad Kumaratunga.
Following the appointments, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage and Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Dinindu Saman Hennayake held discussions with the Board on future youth development initiatives.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Minister Hennayake stressed the importance of implementing youth development programmes with clearly defined objectives and said the expertise of the Board would be essential in achieving those goals.
Minister Gamage urged the Board to play an active role in advancing the work of the National Youth Services Council through a results-oriented approach and invited members to submit proposals for future youth development projects.
The meeting was also attended by Ministry Secretary Aruna Bandara, NYSC Chairman and Director General Attorney-at-Law Supun Wijeratne, and other members of the Board. (Newswire)
