Sri Lanka’s Worker Remittances Near USD 700 Million in July

Sri Lanka received USD 697.3 million in worker remittances in July 2025, up from USD 635.7 million in June, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

The increase reflects a 9.7% month-on-month growth and continued strength in external income sources. Compared to July 2024, when remittances stood at USD 576.7 million, the latest figure marks a year-on-year rise of nearly 21%.

The strong inflows supported the country’s gross official reserves, which rose to USD 6.14 billion by end-July. Reserve assets include bilateral arrangements such as the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) swap. (Newswire)
