The Railway Department has announced that several special train services will operate from May 30 – 31 to facilitate travel during the Vesak Full Moon Poya.

According to the department, the services are aimed at easing travel for devotees heading to Anuradhapura and for the public attending the State Vesak Festival at the ancient Raja Maha Vihara in Thihagoda, Midellawela, in Matara. 

The department confirmed that these additional train journeys will run over the two‑day Vesak period to accommodate the expected surge in passenger numbers.
