Opposition demands urgent parliamentary debate on Rupee crisis

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, joined by other party leaders, has formally requested an urgent parliamentary debate on Sri Lanka’s worsening currency crisis.
Premadasa said that the request was made following a meeting with the Speaker of Parliament, Jagath Wickramaratne, today (22).
“The rupee is under tremendous pressure. And we don’t have clear answers nor plans,” the Opposition Leader said in a post on ‘X’.
He stressed that the public deserves honesty and immediate action before the situation gets worse. (Newswire)
