Meta Newsroom announced the launch of “Incognito Chat” with Meta AI on WhatsApp and the Meta AI app, introducing what the company describes as a completely private way to interact with artificial intelligence.

According to Meta, the new feature is built on WhatsApp’s “Private Processing” technology and is designed to ensure that conversations remain invisible to everyone, including Meta itself.

The company said Incognito Chat creates a temporary private conversation where messages are processed in a secure environment that even Meta cannot access. The chats are not saved and messages disappear by default.

Meta stated that the feature is aimed at users discussing sensitive or personal topics with AI, including health concerns, financial matters and career advice.

The company also claimed that unlike other “incognito-style” AI chat modes, Meta cannot view either the questions submitted by users or the responses generated by the AI.

Meta further announced plans to introduce “Sidechat” on WhatsApp in the coming months. The feature will reportedly allow users to receive private AI assistance related to ongoing WhatsApp conversations without interrupting the main chat.

Incognito Chat with Meta AI is expected to roll out gradually on WhatsApp and the Meta AI app over the coming months. (Newswire)
