The prevailing showery condition over Sri Lanka is expected to continue during the next few days due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, according to the Department of Meteorology.

As such, showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of the island after 1.00 pm today (08).

Heavy falls above 100 mm are likely in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.  

Showers are likely in the Eastern and Northern provinces in the morning.

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. 

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas around the island. 

Winds will be southwesterly or variable in direction. Wind speed will be 25-35 kmph. State of Sea: The sea areas around the island can be Slight to moderate.
