Former Sri Lankan President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has congratulated TVK leader C. Joseph Vijay on his win in Tamil Nadu Assembly Election.

In a letter dated 6 May 2026, Kumaratunga described Vijay’s victory as a “remarkable achievement” and expressed hope for continued friendly relations between Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu under his leadership.

“I recall with pleasure the long and cordial association between Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka and look forward to our continued friendly relationship under your governance,” she stated.
