Sri Lanka voices “grave concern” over escalating West Asia tensions

Sri Lanka has expressed “grave concern” over the recent hostilities in the West Asian region, including attacks on critical energy infrastructure, warning that the developments threaten regional stability and ongoing peace efforts.
In a statement issued today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism said the safety and wellbeing of Sri Lankan nationals in the region remain a “matter of paramount concern”.
The Ministry also stressed the need to protect civilians, civilian infrastructure, and global supply chains, while urging all parties to exercise “maximum restraint” and engage in dialogue to de-escalate tensions.
“Sri Lanka remains committed to supporting all efforts aimed at restoring peace and security in the region and ensuring a conducive environment for international trade,” the statement added. (Newswire)
