Levy on imported maize increased to Rs. 50 per kilo

The government has increased the Special Commodity Levy imposed on imported maize with immediate effect, according to an extraordinary gazette issued by the Ministry of Finance.
Under the revised tax structure, the levy on imported maize has been increased to Rs. 50 per kilogram.
The Finance Ministry said the new tax rate will remain in effect from May 05, 2026 until December 31, 2026.
The latest gazette also amends the previous tax regulation issued under Extraordinary Gazette No. 2469/12 dated December (31), 2025.
