Showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 pm today (30), according to the Department of Meteorology.

Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely in some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northcentral provinces and in the Trincomalee district. 

Showers are likely in some places in the Southern province and in the Kalutara district in the morning.

Misty conditions can be expected in some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-central and Uva provinces.  

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. 

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle. 

Winds will be South-westerly and wind speed will be 25-35 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar. 

The sea areas off the coasts extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar will be fairly rough at times. The other sea areas around the island can be slight to moderate.
