Customs seize 6.5 tonnes of turmeric hidden in gypsum imported from India
Officers of the Sri Lanka Customs Revenue Task Force (RTF) uncovered an attempted smuggling operation on Wednesday (29).
A total of 2,580 kg of turmeric powder and 3,950 kg of dried turmeric fingers were discovered concealed inside gypsum plaster imported from India.
The detection was made by the RTF (Operations) unit during an inspection, preventing the illegal entry of the goods into the local market. (Newswire)
