RDA denies Rs. 380 million double payment claim by Nalin Bandara

The Road Development Authority has strongly denied allegations that more than Rs. 380 million was mistakenly paid twice to contractors, describing the claims as false, misleading, and completely baseless.

In an official statement, the RDA said no such double payment had been made from its accounts and confirmed that no financial loss had occurred to the institution.

The authority further stated that it had no involvement in initiating or processing the transactions referred to in the allegations.

The statement follows claims made publicly by Opposition MP Nalin Bandara, which were circulated on social media, alleging that over Rs. 380 million had been wrongly paid to contractors through the RDA payment system.

Rejecting the accusation, the RDA said attempts to link the institution to financial mismanagement were irresponsible and unfounded.

The RDA also said it was reviewing the matter and reserved the right to take appropriate action regarding the statements made.

Calling on the public and media to verify facts before sharing such claims, the authority said spreading unverified information damages public institutions and misleads the public.

The RDA said it remains committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and integrity in all its operations. (Newswire)
