Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunneththi held discussions with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the role of Sri Lanka’s industrial sector in supporting economic stability on Monday (6).

The meeting focused on the sector’s contribution to the economy and overall national output, and the minister briefed the IMF delegation on challenges faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and outlined policy measures introduced to support their growth.

The IMF representatives acknowledged the importance of industrial development within Sri Lanka’s ongoing economic reform programme.
