Water supply to Padukka and surrounding areas will be suspended for 12 hours from 8.00 p.m. today (5) until 8.00 a.m. tomorrow, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced.

The NWSDB said the suspension is being implemented due to prevailing dry weather conditions and declining water levels in reservoirs supplying the area.

Authorities noted that water restrictions are being introduced as part of a broader water management plan affecting several areas in the Colombo District, including Padukka, Homagama, Pelanwatta and Pannipitiya, as water levels continue to drop amid prolonged dry conditions.

The Water Board urged residents to use water sparingly and store sufficient water during the interruption period to minimize inconvenience.

Officials also stated that further supply adjustments may be introduced depending on weather conditions and reservoir levels in the coming days. (Newswire)
