Eco-Tourism Campsite Launched in Attanagalla for Foreign Tourists

NPP MP Ruwan Mapalagama said a newly developed campsite in Alawala, Attanagalla, has been opened targeting foreign tourists, with local visitors also allowed under specific conditions.

The campsite, located bordering a protected forest, paddy fields and the Attanagalu Oya, can accommodate around 16 visitors overnight. A natural bathing pool created from the nearby Kumari Ella waterfall is also available for tourists.

“Food and beverages from outside are not allowed, and a specially trained Alawala community-based committee will provide all necessary assistance to tourists,” Mapalagama said.

He added that non-degradable materials such as plastic and polythene are prohibited at the campsite, while mobile phone coverage from all major service providers is available in the area.

Mapalagama said the campsite also provides access to several nearby tourist attractions, adding that local tourists can use the facility subject to specific conditions. (Newswire)
