Supreme Court to hear Mahindananda and Nalin appeals today

The Supreme Court on Monday (9) postponed the hearing of appeals filed by former ministers Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Nalin Fernando against their prison sentences until Tuesday (10).
The appeals were taken up before a five-judge Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena.
During Monday’s hearing, President’s Counsel Ali Sabry, appearing for Nalin Fernando, presented submissions before the court.
Sabry is scheduled to continue his submissions when the case resumes Tuesday. President’s Counsel Romesh de Silva and a team of lawyers representing Mahindananda Aluthgamage are expected to present their arguments after. (NewsWire)
