Sri Lanka calls for restraint, immediate de-escalation in Middle East

The Sri Lankan government on Saturday called for “utmost restraint” and immediate steps to de-escalate rising hostilities in the Middle East, warning that further escalation could threaten regional and global stability.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, the government expressed deep concern over the rapid escalation of tensions, saying the situation poses a serious threat to regional stability and international peace and security.
Sri Lanka urged all concerned parties to exercise maximum restraint and take immediate and decisive action to reduce tensions.
The statement said all sides must refrain from further provocative measures to prevent the risk of a wider regional conflict that could result in severe humanitarian and economic consequences. (Newswire)
