Puttalam police report that the body of a three-wheeler driver was found today (22) near a road close to Thillayadi Al-Qasim village in Puttalam.

The deceased has been identified as 72-year-old Abdul Latif, a father of five residing in Thillayadi, Puttalam, according to the Criminal Investigation Division of Puttalam police.

Police said the three-wheeler driver was called out for a hire by someone while he was at home last night (21). When he did not return in the morning, his family filed a complaint with the Puttalam police.

His body was later discovered near a canal along the road to Adapana Villuwa village, about 2 km from his home. The three-wheeler is missing and is believed to have been hijacked by the killers.

A passerby spotted the body and informed local residents, after which police launched an investigation. (NewsWire)
