Sri Lanka and EU to convene 27th Joint Commission in Colombo

Sri Lanka and the European Union will hold the 27th session of the EU–Sri Lanka Joint Commission in Colombo on Feb. 12, 2026, to review and strengthen cooperation across a range of priority areas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism said.

The high-level meeting will bring together senior officials from both sides to assess progress and advance collaboration in governance, human rights, trade, development cooperation, as well as bilateral and regional issues.

The session will be co-chaired by Aruni Ranaraja, Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka, and Paola Pampaloni, Acting Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific at the European External Action Service.

According to the ministry, the visiting EU delegation is also expected to meet senior Sri Lankan dignitaries during the visit to discuss collaborative approaches and identify concrete next steps to further strengthen the partnership between Sri Lanka and the European Union.

The Joint Commission serves as the principal bilateral mechanism to oversee relations between Sri Lanka and the EU, providing a platform for dialogue and cooperation on political, economic and development matters. (Newswire)
