The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Galle and Matara Districts today.

Per the advisory, effective until 11.00 pm today, red alerts have been issued to 07 districts and amber alerts to 05 districts. 

As thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at some places, the public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning activity. (Newswire)
