The Ministry of Health says 96% of eligible doctors have applied for post-intern medical appointments.

According to the Ministry, applications for post-intern appointments closed at 12.00 noon on April 4, 2026, as scheduled.

Of the 453 doctors who completed their internship training this time, 435 had successfully applied for appointments.

The Ministry said the process of assigning these medical officers to new hospitals and health institutions will be carried out based on the manner in which they have applied and their merit list rankings.

It said the placements will be made under a transparent and scientific system, with the aim of addressing medical service requirements across the island.

The Ministry also said details of the selected applicants, their assigned service locations, and the date they are required to report for duty will be announced shortly. (Newswire)
