An 82‑year‑old woman was murdered in the Malwanegama area of Thambuttegama on Wednesday (08) after being assaulted by her grandson over a personal dispute.

Police investigations have revealed that the suspect, aged 23, struck the victim with a pole, causing her death.

The suspect has been taken into custody, and further investigations are being carried out by the Thambuttegama Police. (Newswire)
